Sioux City Journal :

Releases from Gavins Point Dam near Yankton, South Dakota, will remain above average levels through October.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Friday that runoff into the Missouri River and its reservoir system remains well above average, creating the need to evacuate the extra water to make room for next spring's runoff.

Gavins Point releases will remain at 58,000 cubic feet per second, John Remus, chief of the Missouri River Basin Water Management Division, said in a news release. Gavins Point releases in September averaged 56,100 cfs.

The 2018 runoff forecast in the river basin above Sioux City is 40.6 million acre feet, 160 percent of average. September runoff was 1.7 MAF, 151 percent of normal.
