As members of the Hastings Utility Board recommended approval of the Hastings Utilities budget as well as water and sewer rate increases on Wednesday, they also discussed a desired increase in renewable energy options offered by HU.“We’re moving forward with our analytics> we’re moving forward with immediate discussions with Bluestem (Energy Solutions) and GenPro (Energy Solutions) both on wind options as well as solar,” HU Manager Kevin Johnson told board members.He said HU is moving forward on customer surveys to understand interest in renewable energy within the Hastings community. There is nothing specific in the budget, but Johnson said the utility will determine whether to do purchase power agreements or own projects.
