A 180-day temporary stay on new wells and new irrigated acres in the Central Platte Natural Resources District was lifted by a vote at Thursday’s NRD board meeting. The stay had been in place as updates were made to rules and regulations for fully appropriated and over appropriated areas of the district. Also during that time, according to a CPNRD press release, the district’s acre transfer tool was updated and new depletion numbers were implemented. Those numbers were determined by the Cooperative Hydrology Study Groundwater Model used for the CPNRD Groundwater Quantity Management Program. The new rules, which were approved at the September board meeting, and lifting of the stay took effect Thursday.
