Sewer rates to climb almost 40 percent by 2023

Bellevue residents will see their sewer rates rise in each of the next five years as the city attempts to keep pace with rate increases imposed by the City of Omaha.Water rates on Jan. 1 will climb from $14.31 for the first 1,496 gallons of water used to $15.45, and from $3.44 to $3.72 for every subsequent unit of 738 gallons used. That is an increase of 8 percent.Rates will continue to climb through Jan. 2, 2023, at which point the rates will be $19.95 for the first 1,496 gallons of water, and $4.80 for additional units of 748 gallons.That represents an almost 40 percent increase over today’s rates.
