Rockford Lake near Beatrice remains on health alert

Rockford Lake near Beatrice in southeastern Nebraska remains on health alert because of toxic algae blooms.The lake has been on a health alert since mid-June, when testing by the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality first showed the lake had high levels of toxins.The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission says testing earlier this week shows the blue-green algae toxins are still a problem.Skin exposed to the toxin can develop rashes and blisters, and drinking tainted water could cause headaches, nausea and muscle pain.
