The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on Thursday completed the temporary repairs to the levee protecting Valley, a day early.
Repair work on the Union Dike started Monday and fix a 500-foot breach caused by flooding on the Platte River.
Flooding has significantly damaged more than 350 miles of levees on the Missouri, Platte, and Elkhorn Rivers and their tributaries, according to the Omaha District of the Corps. This includes 54 confirmed full or partial breaches and issues related to water flowing over the top of a levee.
The risk of flooding remains due to the potential for above-normal spring rains and the ongoing weaknesses in the levee system.
