Public input sought on drought planning for Lower Platte River Basin

The Lower Platte River Basin Consortium is working to develop a drought contingency plan for the basin.The planning process includes sharing information with the public. A public open house will be 5-7 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District, 3125 Portia St.The consortium is made up of members from the Lower Platte South, Lower Platte North and Papio-Missouri River NRDs, the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources, Lincoln Water System and Metropolitan Utilities District of Omaha.The goal of the meeting is to present the draft drought contingency plan and receive public feedback. The public open house will begin at 5 p.m., followed by a formal presentation at 5:30 p.m.
