Project targets Westridge runoff

McCook Gazette :
Larger storm sewers and drainage pipes will help move surplus rainwater away from Westridge Parkway. The McCook City Council Monday night heard from Public Works Director Kyle Potthoff and Street Superintendent Greg Wolford on proposed plans to fix drainage problems in that area. Those plans include constructing several “open throat” storm sewer inlets, similar to what is on “B” Street, around the park near the Elks tennis courts and on Westridge, along with 42-inch drainage pipes in the area, to increase water flow capacity. The project will alleviate a lot of the drainage issues, said Wolford. He added that in exceptional circumstances, such as this past summer when four inches of rain came down in 45 minutes, there will still be some temporary localized flooding.
