A flood control project that has been in the works for more than a decade should be finished this year.
The Hall County Regional Planning Commission heard an update Wednesday on the Upper Prairie/Silver/Moores Flood Control Project. Hall County Planning Technician Rashad Moxey gave the review of the project that is slated to be complete Nov. 30.
A series of water detention cells and levees are being built to control flooding northwest of the city and in Merrick County. The project is being done in conjunction with Central Platte Natural Resources District.
The work will remove thousands of acres of land and several homes and businesses out of the floodplain.
