Platte County farmers currently have the chance to expand their land.

Tylr Naprstek, assistant manager for Lower Loup Natural Resources District, said the company does not simply give out acres every year, but this year was an exception due to recent developments.

The LLNRD Board of Directors in late July came to an agreement to make available to area landowners 2,500 groundwater irrigated acres for 2019. After spending several years monitoring the basins, consistently measuring out the level of static water, the results showcased excess amounts of available water.
