Little Blue NRD locks in irrigation development stay boundaries

The Little Blue Natural Resources District board of directors has finalized the boundaries of an area in northwestern Adams County now under an open-ended stay on drilling of new irrigation wells and net expansion of irrigated acres.Meeting in Davenport for their regular monthly meeting Tuesday, district directors voted 12-4 to approve a stay area of about 12,400 acres that includes Sections 1-12 and 16-18, plus portions of Sections 13, 14, 15, 19 and 20 in Kenesaw Township> plus all of Sections 5, 6 and 12 and portions of Sections 4 and 13 in Verona Township.The stay area is in the extreme northwest corner of Adams County, and, except for a small number of acres in Sections 14 and 15 of Kenesaw Township, lies entirely within the Platte River surface drainage basin. The stay area encompasses the village of Prosser and unincorporated village of Denman.
