Sioux City Journal :

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is investigating a fish kill that started on the north fork of the Floyd River about seven miles northeast of Sheldon.

A news release from the Iowa DNR said a resident reported the fish kill late Saturday. On Sunday, staff found dead fish starting close to the intersection of the north fork and the Floyd River, and continuing for about four miles downstream in the river.

Specialists resumed the investigation Monday and were still working on identifying the source of the pollutants.

Field tests show water in the north fork of the Floyd River had high dissolved oxygen and low ammonia levels Monday. Rainfall Saturday and Sunday night likely diluted the pollutant, the release said.
