Meeting reports included an overview by CNPPID Government and Public Relations Manager Jeff Buettner of some water-related bills in the Nebraska Legislature.
One, LB134, would reinstate a 3-cent levy authority for natural resources districts within basins that have designated fully appropriated or overappropriated areas. Those NRDs are required by the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources to undertake additional groundwater responsibilities.
The levy authority originally was created by the Legislature in 2006.
Buettner said there was no testimony against LB134 at a Revenue Committee public hearing last week, and CNPPID sent a letter of support.
