The average Omaha-area homeowner can expect to pay about 7.9 percent more for the water portion of their Metropolitan Utilities District bill, after board members approved a rate increase Wednesday.
The extra funding will accelerate how quickly MUD can replace aging water mains across the city, with an emphasis on those at greatest risk for repeat breaks.
The MUD board, voting 6-0, approved a plan that will charge the average homeowner an extra $2.30 a month for water.
