Our Commitment —

We at Rembolt Ludtke LLP want to share our sincere hope that you are safe and doing well.  As we all navigate how best to plan for and deal with the impact of the virus, our top priority is the health and well-being of our people and our community. We remain committed to and capable of assisting our clients with their legal needs.

We have instituted and continue to update best health and safety practices for our staff and attorneys.  We are monitoring CDC recommendations, as well as those of our local healthcare institutions, and we have a comprehensive business continuity plan that ensures our ability to continue operations and provide uninterrupted service to our clients. Part of that plan includes our ability to work remotely in a technologically-secure environment.

As you have questions, concerns, need legal or general assistance, please contact those at the firm with whom you typically communicate. Please know we are operating with reduced staff in the office, so for time-sensitive matters, it is best to reach out to the attorney who is handling your matter.

Business Resources —

As you know from our webinars and articles, we have continued to monitor the impact of the federally-mandated paid benefits in the workplace. Every employer with anywhere between 1 and 499 employees must provide certain paid sick leave benefits and paid Family and Medical Leave benefits beginning in less than 48 hours.   In addition, these same employers now have a federally-mandated posting requirement effective April 1st.   The new poster may be found here.

Given how quickly this has developed, we’ve prepared a model policy that can be used for your workplace incorporating the new legal requirements and guidance. This policy is similar to other policies that are found in employee handbooks. It explains the benefits, how they can be used, when they can be used, when they cannot be used, and what will be required of employees before they use the leave.

In addition, we have prepared model forms for employee’s to use when requesting such leave.  While it is possible the Department of Labor may issue model forms in the months ahead, our model forms will help you comply with these complicated new laws in the interim.

Because of the significant time and effort that has been expended by our Firm in analyzing these new laws and because the model policy and forms represent legal advice, it is necessary to charge our clients for these documents.  The cost for the model policy and model request forms is $500.  Providing legal advice regarding your particular situation or how these new policies mesh with your other personnel policies will be billed at our normal hourly rates.

If you are interested in purchasing a copy of the policy and forms, let us know.
