Things will soon be back to normal for three area lakes, following maintenance and inspection work.
Jeffrey and Johnson lakes were lowered for inlet structure inspection. Jeffrey Lake was refilled quickly from the supply canal, said Jeff Buettner, public relations manager for Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District. Johnson Lake will take longer to re-fill but should be at normal operating level by the 11th or 12th of October, he said.
Outflows from Lake McConaughy were reduced to a trickle this week for a four-day maintenance project at Kingsley Hydroelectric Power Plant. The work should be completed this Friday, and normal outflows will resume.
